About h…

h design group is a growing, progressive architectural firm in Springfield, MO who was locally recognized last year as a Choice Employer by the Springfield Business Journal.

Inside our offices you’ll find a fast-paced, team oriented studio environment with music playing throughout the building and Bunker, the office dog, greeting clients at the door. We maintain a “work hard, play hard” moto… though project deadlines will often cause long hours, office potlucks and half-day Fridays help balance the busy workload.

If you feel you are the right fit for our team, please e-mail your current resume to employment@hdesigngroup.com or drop off in person at 5051 S. National Ave. Suite 7A Springfield, MO 65810.

The new City Utilities Downtown Bus Transfer Station will be located between N. Main Avenue and N. Grant Street in downtown Springfield, Missouri. The $4 million facility is intended to replace the current drab, cramped, and utilitarian station located on McDaniel Street.

h design‘s team has developed a design that is guided by three simple concepts:
1.  Make the facility SAFE for pedestrians, passengers, and CU employees.
2.  Make it RELEVANT to the downtown landscape.
3.  Make it COOL.

03-WEB_CUBX_SITE-FINAL

The final design includes a great deal of transparency allowing passengers to easily see and navigate to buses and eliminates a number of areas where pedestrians would cross in front of drivers.

Canopies above the outdoor waiting area are sloped outward to help filter vehicle noise and fumes.  The building’s interior will offer more seating, ticketing, offices for security and supervisors, a driver’s lounge, public restrooms, and a multi-purpose community room.

Final plans are on track to be completed by the end of 2014; construction is expected to begin in early 2015, with an opening sometime in early 2016.

Ryan fam

Ryan Phillips joined h design group earlier this year as project manager.  Ryan has more than thirteen years experience working on a wide array of projects types across the United States. Ryan specializes in project design and management from concept through construction administration.

Originally from Louisiana, Ryan graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Louisiana Tech University in 2001. Out of college Ryan worked as an intern architect where he focused on projects in healthcare and hospitality. Ryan’s most recent work is in northwest Arkansas at Hight-Jackson Associates, who h design has partnered with on educational projects in the past.

After moving back to Springfield from Arkansas, Ryan has truely “hit the ground running” with new projects for h design. Since he’s joined the h team, Ryan has worked on several local projects including Macedonia Baptist Daycare Facility, Republic Transportation Facility, and misc. Twin Oaks Country Club projects.

Most recently, Ryan has assisted with the new CU Downtown Bus Transfer Station by attending the 3-day design charette, developing a design report, and creating renderings and conceptual designs.
